Day 19 of 100 Things to do on Sanibel & Captiva takes us to Easter Sunrise Service on March 27 at 6:30 AM on the Sanibel Causeway. This annual church service is offered by the Sanibel Community Church. The service is held on the Causeway Island closest to Fort Myers. Coffee and donuts will be provided. It really is spectacular seeing the sunrise over the bride while the service is going on! Here are a few tips for attending Easter Sunrise Service:

  • Show up early! Hundreds of people attend and there is not much parking. Be prepared to sit in traffic for a while on the bridge before and after the service.
  • Bring a folding or beach chair. Sanibel Community Church only sets up 50ish chairs which fill up fast so don't count on sitting there. You don't want to have to be standing the whole hour.
  • Bring a towel/blanket or wear a light jacket. Since you will be arriving while it is still dark out, it is normally a little chilly. It is nice to have a something to warm you up.

For more information be sure to check out the Sanibel Community Church website and the Sanibel Community Church Facebook page.
