Day 20 of 100 Things to do on Sanibel & Captiva takes us off the island to the Sanibel & Captiva Islands Night Baseball Game at Hammond Stadium on June 17, 2015 featuring your Fort Myers Miracle against the Daytona Tortugas. Tickets are FREE and can be found at Bailey's General Store, Bank of the Islands, Jerry's Market. This is a great annual tradition started by the Bailey Family. It is a fun night of baseball, tailgating, parade, food and fun!
Islands Night gates open at 5:30PM, but most people start tailgating in the parking lot around 5PM. Many island businesses set up tents with food, drinks, music and fun so head over early and enjoy. Be sure to head inside no later than 5:45PM because you are going to want to grab your FREE Bubble Room Cake. Yes, we said it FREE BUBBLE ROOM CAKE! They go fast so look around the main concourse for their table. Then, head towards the field to find seats. You don't have assigned seats so they are on a first come, first serve basis.
At 6PM on Islands Night the Parade begins around the field. Many of the island businesses will have floats and trucks tossing t-shirts, koozies, candy and other souviners. This is great for the whole family!
The Islands Night game begins at 7:05PM. Usually the Sanibel Mayor throws out the first pitch. There are many fun activities they have throughout the game that interact with the crowd.
Check back after Islands Night for videos and photos we took from the event! Be on the lookout for us with our GoPro camera filming!
